Search helpYou can search the database by typing a keyword into the text box. It does not matter whether the text is entered using either upper or lower case. If a text entry does not produce a satisfactory result, it may be that alternative words should be tried, or abbreviations expanded, e.g. trying variations such as "head teacher", headteacher, head or HT. Note that in this example, using head as the search string will match all records containing head, headteacher and head teacher but HT would not.Placing a phrase in quotations forces the search engine to find that complete phrase e.g. "head teacher" would not return entries containing only the word head, whereas head teacher would return all entries containing the word head as well as all entries containing the word teacher. To search using more than one keyword, normal logical operators can be used e.g. AND NOT OR. e.g. headteacher and secondary will return only the entries which refer to both headteacher AND secondary. Whereas headteacher not secondary will return every entry containing the word headteacher except for those which also contain the word secondary.
In areas where there is an Advanced search option, selecting this feature will display a set of tick boxes down the right hand edge of the screen to allow you to limit your search to records identified as being relevant to the items you tick. In all cases, the search engine returns a list of entries which match the search criteria. Clicking on the link will open a page containing the entry. All downloadable files have been checked at source against viruses, but schools are strongly advised to ensure they have up to date virus protection on any machine used to upen documents downloaded via the internet. For those searches which return more than 10 entries, the first 10 are displayed initially, and then others can be accessed by clicking on [Next>>] or the links numbered 1, 2 etc. Earlier pages can be returned to using the link labelled [<<Prev]
